Yes, I know I already sent out this painting once today but deleting & re-posting is the only way I could think of to let you know how my morning unfolded ...
So yesterday I was talking to my mom & she was saying she couldn't figure out where I got my painting ability & that she thought I had some kind of art genius. Very sweet mom, but I did have a good chuckle! I have figured out my own little system for getting paintings done fairly quickly. Most of them are painted on a piece of watercolor paper & most of my designs are inspired by something I see combined with a little imagination & a lot of luck!
Anyway, this morning I get a text from mom saying that this painting is lacking a little pizzazz & that the girl must not be enjoying her ride very much, poor thing. I started laughing because I was hurrying to finish her since I'd promised to take a friend to lunch for her birthday today & I wasn't happy with this painting either. I was tempted to fix it & re-post it but decided the story behind it was so funny that I would leave it as it is.
So I'm telling Jim about my mom's text. He looks at the painting & says, well I can tell you why she isn't having fun. The front fender on her bike doesn't come down far enough to keep her from getting splashed with water when she goes through a puddle ... and the houses looked like little tombstones, so she's obviously riding through an old cemetery. And besides that, her bike tires aren't perfectly round so as she's riding along she's being jarred by a constant thud, thud, thud!!!!!!!
I laughed until I cried!!! It's all true, of course, and so this poor sad girl is now riding through an old cemetery by herself ... but at least the chicken she rides past is fun!!! And the story is better than the painting itself. Some days are like that. I'm ok with imperfect art that results in a good story & a hearty belly laugh!!!
I can't quite figure out how the pedaling is done with the foot positioning...tiny circles? (Are you "tired" of the analysis?)
