My mom found this recipe in the newspaper back in the 70's and it's been a family favorite ever since. My kids & grandkids always ask for scones for breakfast when they're here overnight. We usually have bacon, and sometimes eggs, with them for a hearty breakfast.

Ingredients

1 ¼ cup flour

⅓ cup sogar

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

½ cup butter

1 cup oats

⅓ cup milk (or half-n-half)

Directions

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder & salt in mixing bowl or food processor. Process or cut in butter. Mix or stir in oats. Mix or stir in milk. The dough should form a ball & be slightly sticky. If it's too stiff, add a little milk. If it's too sticky, add a little flour.

Place ball of dough in the center of a pizza stone or other baking sheet. Press it into a circle that's about an inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges with a table knife. Separate each piece & space them about 2 inches from each other.

Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned. Serve warm with butter. They're delicious with jam or honey, too.
